Code of conduct

Our house rules for a safe, respectful and joyful NeverlandSwing weekend.

Your registration

Registrations through the NeverlandSwing website and the Dance App are processed in accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). By submitting a registration you give:

  • consent to all rules and policies shown on this site and on the social media channels of the NeverlandSwing edition;
  • consent to photo and video recording during the event, and to the use of those recordings on the website and all IT channels, including social media;
  • permission to receive emails at the address you submitted about all matters concerning the event and its editions;
  • permission for the organizer to refuse entry to anyone who does not follow the event rules or the general rules of conduct. Paid registrations are not refunded in that case.

House rules during the NeverlandSwing weekend

The purpose of this code of conduct is to foster mutual respect, appreciation and value for all members of the community, and to encourage safe and responsible dancing and social interaction.

  • Depending on the location, specific rules for alcohol and smoking apply. They are published on the website and our social media channels before the event.
  • Only pass holders and staff can enter the event premises.
  • We evolve with the times, yet we follow a classic approach to how dancers dress and present themselves during a swing dance weekend. We don’t allow provocative or out-of-place clothing, or political statements on clothes and flags. Not sure whether your outfit is acceptable? Ask Gordon Mac Donald.
  • Participants are expected to be courteous and polite to staff, other attendees, hotel staff and the public at all times, and to follow the quiet hours and other rules of the venue. Failing to do so may result in being asked to leave the event. When dancing, leave enough space around you and pay close attention to other dancers to minimise the risk of contact or injury.
  • We recognise that many important social, political and humanitarian issues affect people around the world. While we respect everyone’s right to hold and express personal views, NeverlandSwing is meant to be a welcoming and inclusive environment focused on dance, friendship and community. We therefore do not permit the promotion, provocation, campaigning or display of political, ideological or divisive messages during the event. This includes such messages on clothing, flags, banners, signs, printed materials, accessories or other items meant to promote, provoke or draw attention to a particular cause, movement or viewpoint. Please help us keep a positive atmosphere where participants from all backgrounds can enjoy the weekend free from conflict, pressure or confrontation.

Safety & help

  • Dancing is an aerobic activity. If you have a relevant medical condition, or a family history of one, please ask your doctor whether the event is suitable for you. Although Neverland Swing goes to great lengths to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, due to the nature of dancing we cannot accept liability for injuries at the event (for example slips or falls). If something unfortunate happens, we make sure you get immediate assistance and support.
  • A Safe Zone Security Officer is in place: Gordon Mac Donald, who has an extensive background as a youth and domestic violence counsellor. Gordon is the point of contact for issues on and off the dance floor and for any altercations during the weekend.
  • Please use common sense. You are first and foremost responsible for your own safety and wellbeing. If that becomes difficult (you’ve had too much to drink, you’re being harassed, a discussion gets heated), ask our NLS core staff for help, 24/7. Physical, emotional, verbal or sexual violence will not be tolerated and results in immediate removal from the event and a report to the appropriate authorities.
For anything related to your personal (dance) experience, reach out to our staff and to Gordon Mac Donald. For any other NeverlandSwing question, email neverlandswing@gmail.com.
